FAIRLIGHT Children’s Centre

Following the Government’s guidance for everyone to avoid gatherings and crowded places we have decided to cancel groups which parents and children attend together run from Children’s Centres.  This includes stay and play groups, parenting courses, crèches and the café at Hollingdean Children’s Centre.

The healthy child programme (Health Visiting service) has suspended the child health clinics and groups for the time being. This is in line with the COVID – 19 guidance to help prevent the spread of infection within the community. The healthy child programme service is aiming to provide a normal service as much as possible but the way this is done may change. Some appointments may be offered via the phone and you will be contacted directly about this. If you have a home visit booked and if you, your child or any member of your family is unwell  or is self-isolating then please let the health visitor team know.

If you wish to contact the health visitors please phone their local team base.

Parent line is also now available for parents in the city, and this new text based service allows you to contact and ask questions or get advice.   The number is:  07507 331296 Monday – Friday 9.30- 3.30

The council run nurseries based in children’s centres are staying open for children to attend.

Things you can do with your child at home

Another resource for you is the BBC's Tiny Happy People. There are lots of short video clips with simple fun and free activities to try with your children. These will help you support their early learning and language development.

WHAT DOES THE CHILDREN CENTRE DO?

Children's Centres provide services and support for parents and carers with children under five and we are very proud to have a Children's Centre attached to Fairlight. Children's Centres are a place to meet professionals and other parents, to get advice and information.

Services vary at each centre according to the needs of local families but all centres provide:

  • Child and family health services.
  • Family support services.
  • Drop-in groups for parents with babies or toddlers.

Some centres have nurseries or can signpost families to local childcare providers.
